What is an AFD, ZFP, PFM or HWO?
An AFD is an "Area Forecast Discussion" which contains the meteorological reasoning behind the forecast. The ZFP or "Zone Forecast Product" -is the public forecast for the city of issuance and surrounding areas. The PFM or "Point Forecast Matrix" is a technical model point specific forecast. The HWO or "Hazardous Weather Outlook" is a summary of potentially hazardous weather. The graphical forecast is just that - the forecast drawn on a map for a local or regional area.
